The Kindle is as easy to use and hold as a book. Weighing in at 10.2 ounces it is actually lighter than a regular paperback book and just as thin as many magazines. With a profile of just about one third of an inch it fits easily into your hands.

The Kindle was designed for reading for long periods of time. You can easily read it while holding it with one hand and still shift positions. The page turning buttons are conveniently located on both sides which allows you to turn pages and read comfortably with just one hand from any position. To prevent any accidental page turns the page turning buttons are flexed inward. The Kindle also has a new easy to use 5 way controller which enables more precise onscreen navigation to select text to highlight or for looking up words.

The Kindle comes ready to use right out of the box because it is completely wireless with no computer or cables required. With it's 25% longer battery life, you can now read for up to 4 days on a single charge with wireless on. If you turn the wireless off you can read up to two weeks. Battery life varies based on the wireless usage such as downloading content or shopping the Kindle store. Wireless usage will consume battery power more quickly in low coverage areas or in 1xRTT only overage. Periodicals and books can be delivered in less than 60 seconds via Whispernet.
